Apparently it was the last one they had tho so they were probably just trying to get rid of it. I was about to trash the entire monitor too (since it's like a decade old). Didn't feel like soldering in new caps (especially since my soldering iron doesn't work very good). Plus it probably would have cost the same amount (if not more) for new caps.
Granted it'll still probably burn out in 2 to 3 years, buuuut... I just need a dumpy second monitor to watch YouTube videos on while I'm doing other stuff, so it's not like it's some grand investment.
For as often as capacitors fail (due to how cheap ass they're made) they really should start thinking about making them modular for quick/easy replacement... but then again I think maybe they do it on purpose... "planned obsolescence" and all like that. I think most of the caps are designed to fail at roughly the same time the warranty gives out.
