Video Editor Recommendations Onideus 12/20/2019 (Fri) 10:17:51 No. 683
Wut is your favorite video editor? I captured a two and a half hour stream today and I started to edit it in Adobe AfterEffects 2015 and... that was a mistake. I threw the initial edit into the render queue and... oh yeah, it only saves in lossless formats, which was gonna result in like an 800 gigabyte file... NO THANKS! So then I started poking around in Google searches and all I'm getting is this corporate con crap, like "here's a free* editor" ...but then you download the shit and it's all gimpy and retarded unless you fork over your credit card. Like... tha'fuck?! Isn't there like a modern version of VirtualDub? I did find this one program, MKVToolNix and it's really handy for messing around with remuxing and editing tracks and such, but it doesn't really have much in the way of editing ability. Same with XMedia Recode, it's a nice little conversion program, much better than that sloppy TVC crap... but uh... I need a decent editor! It doesn't have to be super complex either, I mean I don't need gawd damn 3D rendering 'n shit, I just want to splice clips and do simple editing WITH COMPLEX SETTINGS! I don't want the fucker messing around with the resolution, or using some default codec settings... simple editing... complex encoding... preferably freeware... does such a mythical beast exist?! D:

>>683 Well, so far the "best" alternative I've found is just using regular Adobe Premiere instead of AfterEffects... neither of which is free though. Pleh.
kdenlive blender and ffmpeg these are tools I use. they have community addons you could use too
I work with Premiere Pro/After Effects, and I started out with Sony Vegas - maybe you could try that? >I threw the initial edit into the render queue and... oh yeah, it only saves in lossless formats, which was gonna result in like an 800 gigabyte file It can do that depending on the project settings, sometimes Premiere comes with another program called Media Encoder, which encodes it to a more compact file that's appropriate for uploading to YouTube, for example. Free programs like Handbrake do the same sort of thing.
