I sent this to Rob landley:
Thesis: Since filesize and memory footprint are the most precious
commodity, toybox needs forth.
Toybox apps must be:
Forth is significantly faster than sh + awk.
Forth < 1 kB
C. Memory Safe:
Require root to run forth in memory unprotected mode,
(As a last resort) I'll add memory safety.
Time non-critical programs like date can be written in forth.
Forth programs may be smaller than their c counteparts.
Any program made smaller by forth offer a savings to toybox.
If the savings exceed 1 kB forth pays for itself.
Therefore, if the sum of time non-critical apps in toybox exceeds 1 k,
I am right.
