S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Thread Anonymous 04/10/2020 (Fri) 18:54:48 No. 560 [Reply] [Last]
Discussion about one of the best PC games every made. Anyone here regularly play? Modding scene is one of the best for it's age.
Can I get a q.r.d. on the series? I.E. which games are worth playing, which one to start with? I've heard of it before but didn't have a good pc at the time. Do any of these have good controller support? (I did some research and it looks like no official support, hmm). If somebody can give a first-hand account of doing a playthrough with a controller I'll consider it. not keen on the pinnacle software but I've used XPadder in the past.
>>561 Best games worth playing generally are Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat, Clear Sky was almost a rushed expansion to Shadow of Chernobyl not really worth bothering with IMO. Then you have the various standalone mods that you can play for free essentially like Call Of Chernobyl, Dead Air, Anomaly etc. I'd recommend getting into Shadow Of Chernobyl first play it vanilla with some texture/ bug fixing mods to get a feel for the game. Unfortunately I don't think I've heard of many people attempting it with a controller, not that it's impossible but I think it might be challenging to get it to work properly. Sorry I can't be of more help, but if you can play it with a keyboard I think you might still enjoy them if you enjoy atmospheric FPS type games.
Ok. it looks like somebody out there on the internet seems to have completed a few playthroughs with a controller. It also looks like it's on GOG, which is good. If it goes on sale at some point I'll pick it up and post a review in the PC Gaming thread.
>>569 Clear Sky is pretty bad, but it's worth playing once or twice. The swamp is pretty tedious in the start. You should get anti-bleeding artifacts ASAP (or a lot of healthkits). The finale can be easily beat by glitching it with quickloads/quicksaves after your target walks down the ladder (after quick loading, he'll go back up then down the ladder).

ok, I finally have a setup that supports proper .sid song lengths . I grabbed " in_sid 1.5.4" from https://winampheritage.com/plugin/in-sidplay2-1-5-4/222277 , sha256sum: 7d9f30be42a5fc76a4a32db504334922f85f89da7293528141fe9f76132bd443 in_sidplay2.dll . Extract the .dll from the .exe with archive manager, then put the .dll into ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Winamp/Plugins .
Then grab https://www.hvsc.c64.org/download/C64Music/DOCUMENTS/Songlengths.txt and store it on your hard drive somewhere. Open up the plugin preferences in winamp and point it to that file and you're good to go.

forgot to mention that you should enable the "song play time limit" if you don't want to get stuck endlessly on certain songs. I set mine to 0, so it will skip any song that doesn't have a known song length in songlengths.txt , this way I never have dead air

What are you playing? Video games madness 09/17/2019 (Tue) 21:24:04 No. 9 [Reply] [Last]
What video games do you play to escape the madness around you?
I keep coming back to Anno 1602, an old classic but still fun to play and no indoctrination, political correctness, LGBT or any other bullshit in it. Pure calm and enjoiable vidya.

>>450 wish the dwarves swore and talked about beer a bit more, but otherwise it's an awesome game
>>9 Battlefield 1. To me, it's the best online FPS ever made. I just wish it was more historically accurate as far as races go. The European nations should be White, and Turkey can be Turks obviously, but we don't need niggers in the German army for example.
I played tf2 with the cuckchan /v/an and now im torrenting doom 3 might play it tomorow though
>>70 Excellent choice, anon! I've been playing that, Stellaris, and CrossCode.
>>507 Doom 3 is great. I forget if I had to tweak nvidia settings or not but I got it to run at 120 hz no problems. nice game to play with headphones game in the dark and the cold.

thoughts on borderlands series?
5 posts omitted.
>>414 Same here, even solo'd 95% of my time in mmo's. As I recall all B1 story line was all solo-able There may have been a side quest for a raid boss at the end I do remember grouping up for a dlc boss at the end. Also by skipping 'release' and playing the games a year later I generally find you can miss the worst part of pug fags in the beginning. Also I had pirated all games up till last year and we were using a program (Tunggle) for borderlands that allowed internet gameplay for pirated games that had LAN enabled. So it goes without saying it wasn't your typical online console culture. >>368 (20 days old, so may not ever read) I did buy borderlands packages when the were on sale awhile ago OP, (haven't replayed much more than act1 of B1 so far) so if you want to give game a try, Im willing to play a bit.
RNG with guns doesn't work, no matter what. The "humor" is intellectually insulting.
>>368 Meant for normalfag. Normalfags are retarded. >>412 >buying games Look at this normalfag lmao
>>368 Boring, outdated, cringe and lifeless the faggot game creators insults you with retarded jew sjw talk for just playing the game.

how does it stack up with the nintendo switch?
>>60
I have the GPD 1 and it's pretty comfy, but I ended up not playing games on it much. It's too weak to play many N64 games fullspeed, at least with default retroarch settings. Handles SM64 perfect (easiest rom in my standard test), can't keep 60 in Rush 2049 (hardest test rom I use). Dpad is a little mushy but it's apparently fixable if you're willing to do a full disassembly to swap out the rubber mat and d-pad cross with a DS lite.

It's still pretty great if you just want a "laptop" to permanently leave in your bag. I use it for connecting through hotspot when I want a "real" web browser, and for doing minor edits to .cfg files or file management for MP3 players. I would not recommend the GPD Win 2 if it's still $800 or something nuts like that.
>>60 It's not eve 'cool'. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DragonBox_Pyra Sort of thing should have taken off.
(181.59 KB 1600x900 handheld-comparison.jpg)
>Dragonbox Pyra That's basically a portable raspberry pi zero that costs ~$800. The CPU is 5+ years old at this point. It never got popular because it's a hobby project, and between the original and the pyra there were multiple consecutive years where you couldn't actually buy one, just put down a $100+ plus preorder for a device with no guaranteed shipping date. It looks like they finally started shipping *something* at least in December 2019, 3-4 years since the product started. GPD managed to go from concept to mass, widely available production for at least 4 competitive products in that timescale. My autism appreciates the fully-open-source, hobbyist nature, but as a consumer product it misses the mark by a wide margin. If that guy ever decides to produce a cheap, cut-down version at $300 I'll consider it. I understand why it's priced as it is, but $800 is too much for what is essentially a toy.>>460

>>297 Are you implying you like Shitbox One or Gender Switch? At least Playstation has a decent game selection. Or you could stop being a cuck and scrape together enough change to buy pic related. Once you go PC, you never go back.

>Rest in Peace Flash <What wuz ur fav memory wit Flash
>>385 Either playing Madness Interactive hacks on an ancient site called “Rayne Hellawack” (died a long time ago), or browsing Stick Figure Death Theater (also died a long time ago). I mostly use flash these days for playing games on Kongregate or Newgounds. And for playing flash hentai games. I still have standalone versions of Adobe Flash I can use to play flashes I have downloaded. I hope Adobe doesn’t purge those archives because that’s all any of us will have before long.
